Today at auction there was some really nice photography stuff.

Some really cool slide cabinets for those old style kodachrome slides.

Thing is, they looked to be the same size as a 2x2.

Has anyone heard of using slide holders for 2x2s? Are the dimensions the same.

yes, they are the same dimension. I use some of the old sawyer projector trays which are in a line rather than carosel when I need to hold 2x2 for sorting, laabeling, whatever.

back when I was a kid and first into collecting coins the slide holder/trays were sold at coin shops for your 2X2s. that's what people used.

My grandfather kept his 2x2s in those.

I still have the 3-drawer case I bought in 1956 at the urging of the adult members of my coin club. I think every member used them (the traveling 3-drawers) to bring coins to club meetings. There were no 2X2's like now, instead we used 2X2 envelopes. Coin shops even sold 2X2 dividers to make "filing" tabs for drawers. They were - and still are - a very convenient coin carrier.
