Sellers who describe a barely recognizable, nearly smooth, Draped Bust cent as "nice color and detail."
The sticker reminds me of another one: When you buy the coin and it shows up taped to a piece of paper or index card. Not inside something and taped down, but the tape right on the coin. This happens way too often. Or not as destructive but still annoying, when someone uses an entire roll of tape to entomb their coin. You can't open the envelope because all the sides are covered in tape, then inside the coin is wrapped up in a piece of paper completely surrounded by tape. Sure, it gets to me safely, but then I need a knife or scissors to get it out, and it's just as likely to get damaged that way.
Ive had that done to some ancients I have bought on ebay. The package is all taped up followed by an ancient wrapped in tiny bubble wrap then half a roll of tape around the bubble wrap. Its a #)(%& getting the coin out without damaging it.
I don't like it when the seller has to tell their personal life crisis story. I also hate those "little old lady" stories that I'll bet half of them are completely making it up.
Reminds me I saw a coin offered BIN for $80 with a make offer option. I made an offer of $50 and the counter offer was $79.99 Of course I had to counter with $50.01 Needless to say, i did not get the coin.
Certain odd shipping methods by some people is my biggest pet peeve. I bought 2 oz's of junk silver when it was around $27, the guy taped all the coins to a piece of cardboard. I was a little ticked off.
I once negged a guy because I paid like $3 and something for shipping, he sent it with a stamp on it, and the coins were loose in an envelope. You are NOT supposed to send coins unless the envelope is marked non machinable or the machine will suck coins right out.
Why bother with the make offer option if you are not going to be realistic? You offered $50 and they countered it with one cent left? What were they saying? The price is not negotiable.
