Good afternoon folks, This coin came with a collection today and I pointless when it comes to ancient coins. Ebay and google resaults in coins that are worth a pretty silver dollar but as these are complex with weight and size i´m not seeing anything that have my numbers. It weighs 3.95 grams give or take -.10 grams and width is 1.80 cm If anyone has a clue I would appriciate your feedback. All the best Siggi
Size & weight dont matter when it comes to ancients so long as its authentic. Many ancients have various weights to them. Some can weigh 3.4g and others could weigh a perfect 4g. Your caesar looks OK and the weight is decent for the type. Despite being a bit off center it still has the name fully & in great condition. It could easily go $600 or so. Its full info is below: Spanish mint, Struck 49 - 44 B.C.E. Obv: Diademed head of Venus Rev: Gallia and bound Gaul under trophy, shields and trumpets. "Caesar" in exergue. Sydenham 1014, Crawford 468/1, RSC 13
Its a popular type, what with celebrating a military victory and being Julius, but not scarce at all. One of the most common J Caesar coins in fact. IDK about the $600, maybe they go that high nowadays, but I wouldn't go that strong.
