    Hey all,

I'm working on a presidential set that will include every president, Washington to Reagan in P mint. I know they are stopping normal production up to 2016 and Reagan (which fits with what I'm doing) my question is will they fix the albums such as the Dansco to fix for this? Removing and shuffling the presidents that won't be minted. I'm just trying to figure album options.

All the Presidential Dollars, from 2012-the end of the Program WILL be available to collectors.

Yes, regular circulating coinage production was stopped but, just like the Kennedy Half Dollar, the US Mint will still produce the Presidential Dollars.

Will they be available at Banks? Probably not unless you happen across one that escapes into the wild. BUT, I can guarantee that these will be available at coin shops, coin shows, and even online through eBay.

There would be absolutely no reason to create an album which only includes 2007-2011 (Since 2012 was the 1st year on non-circulating production).

However, Dansco does sell blank small dollar pages. If someone were insistent, they could create their own "custom" dollar coin album but really, whats the point? The coins are out there, folks just have to go after them.

They've said they are stoping at Reagan in 2016. That the others won't be made unless they die? so would they change the albums to cut out the last 3-4 presidents?

Since Carter is still alive, they're going to skip him (assuming he is still kicking when that date comes up)? Now if he dies after 2016, will they issue a coin or will it take an act of Congress to do that?

They have it that it'll be Reagan as 39 or 40 depending on if carter dies before reagan is coined....after that I think they plan to stop unless an act of congress occures.

Because Reagan is the last coin in the series.

Also, any former POTUS still living, is not going to be memorialized on a dollar coin. Jimmy Carter, will not be in the series, and any POTUS after Reagan will not be in the series either.

Reagan isn't even on that schedule? I wish they'd at least go to 40. It's a nice round number. I just thought they'd continue as long as they die? The exceptions being post Reagan to know (obama).

Or if they did 39, dansco could shuffle their albums and do 9 hole pages for a total of 4 page with a 5th having the final 3. Thus it's clean and you don't have missing/uneven holes?

You're right. Last coin in the PDC series is Gerald Ford.

As far as Reagan goes, if I remember correctly, Nancy doesn't want him on any currency.

:( I want Reagan. He ended the cold war/Berlin wall stuff and is kind of a nice cut off point for the series between our more modern presidents and historical presidents.

And both unemployment and inflation rose considerably under his 2 terms as well.

Currently the series is planned to go through Ford. They will not jump over Carter to get to Reagan. Now if Carter dies before mid 2014 then the series will go through Reagan. If George H W Bush also dies by mid 2014 then the series will include him as well. If Carter dies AFTER mid 2014 but before the end of the series he will not be eligible for a coin (the law says they have to have been dead for two years before their coin comes out) and I don't know if they would then do Reagan or not.

Nancy Reagan did not say she did not want Reagan on a coin, she did not want him replacing Roosevelt on the dime which was what was being promoted. She was also against him replacing one of the currently appearing Presidents. Taking his turn on the dollar coin should be no problem.

What will be interesting would be if Carter dies in time to be eligible, and if Rosiline Carter and Nancy Reagan are still alive in 2016. While the law requires the President to have been dead for two years before being on the coin, there is no such restriction on the First Ladies so they could appear on the First Spouse coins while still alive.

Unemployment was 7.5% when Reagan took office (It reached a high of 10.8% in Dec of 81) and 5.4% when he left. (Low point was 5.3% in Dec of 1988)
Inflation rate was 11.8% when Reagan took office (That was the high point for his two years) and 4.7% when he left. (Low point was Dec of 1986 at 1.1%) The annual average inflation rate went from 10.3% in 1981 to 4.1% in 1988 with the lowest being 1986 at 1.9%
