  3. I never use anything but cash
    Never owned but one plastic card and cut it up after a few times of use.
    Never used but a few checks and would not have an account at my bank if not for the goverment makeing it manditory
    for direct deposite.
    That make me ask why as by doing this the postal service is being hurt and it is a branch of the goverment.
    Its almost like they are trying to help this branch go belly up.

    While it is certainly true than in Germany cash is more commonly used than in other EU countries, part of that DW article is quite misleading. The text says that "Debit or credit cards are typically only used in payments over 500 euros ($656)". Huh??

    BS. ;) See the attached screenshot from the Bundesbank study ...

    Barzahlung = Cash Payment
    Girocard = Debit Card, usually directly connected to your "checking" account
    Kreditkarte = Credit Card
    Internet-Bezahlverfahren = Online Payments (other than debit/credit card)
    Überweisung = Direct account-to-account transfer
    Sonstige unbare Zahlungsinstrumente = Other non-cash means of payment
