:thumb: great looking pence CWPG has a $120.00 coin in EF-40. your looks like a EF-45 maybe AU-50 my 2c
That's pretty much what I was thinking, at least AU50 maybe even a little nicer if I can get the crud off the coin. I've gotten all sorts of mixed advice on having it "conserved" by NCS or some other method like dipping in acetone. You can already see a couple bright copper spots where (presumably) small portions of crud have popped off the surface of the coin. If conservation leaves the whole coin polka-dotted with bright orange spots then it's probably something I should skip. In any case, probably the thing that really blew me away when I first saw the coin was the total absence of any rim problems. Without throwing a loupe up to the coin, I already knew it just had to be pretty nice.
Got my girls at the gas station trained well this turned up in a roll of nickles today. Gotta love bunnys
Another fantasy Edward VIII coin. It doesn't really fit anywhere in my collection, but for $22, oh well.
Yes, that's pretty good for a computer aided design. For some reason, the legends always give it away as being created on a computer screen. But the actual composition of the design is quite nice.
Yes, I too have many "oh well" additions. Like the 1989 France 5 Franc proof for the centennial of the Eiffel Tower. Doesn't fit into my collection in any way, but the coin and especially the packaging were way too cool to pass up.
A truly ingenious design, it's not an understatement to say that nobody ever considered to see something like this ever on a coin before.
Two new pick ups. The first is a 4 pence Maundy piece from 1868 Great Britain (another "young Vicky" -- I'm a fan). And, the second is a nice new horse coin I found. It is a Russian silver 1 Rouble proof from 2003. It features a famous statue in St. Petersburg -- one of a series of four on the Anichkov Bridge.
Very nice design too. Have had dinner right in front of that building (the Römer, Frankfurt's city hall) just a few days ago. Also, the coin reminds me of an interesting collection that somebody, in another forum, started - based on what the Fürstentag was, who was there, etc. And then he decided he had to get a coin from all the countries or rulers who were there ... Geez Brandon, You're a tough one to follow. I just bought a few more 5 Marks for the set. With a not so low mintage of 3.6 million, lol:
Here ya go. Nothing amazing, but I really like them. http://www.cointalk.com/members/gbroke/albums/german-federal-republic-5-marks-screaming-eagles/
