Probably common as dirt, but maybe somebody knows what it is...

Pair of medals, identicle except one has been silvered. Would love to think they are some early 20th century medal from the Paris mint, but realistically they are probably from a carnival or some other similar venue. Slightly larger than a half dollar in size.

I have no idea what they are but would like thank you for not assuming they were the rarest thing ever. It is nice to have a question with realistic expectations.

It looks like a captains medallion from a Mardi Gras crew, but I am not familiar with this one in particular. I don't believe it to be from a New Orleans crew, maybe a Mobile crew.

Looks like a type of round. Where did you get it? There is no monetary value listed on it.

Check the rim for any markings.

Yours looks a little more crude.

None. Plain edge, no reeding or other ornamentation. Very much a medal, I don't think it had kind of connection to the magic trade.

Saw that as well, unfortunately the item description doesn't have much meaningful information. I would not describe it as exceptionally fine art. Was sold to me as a pair, which is what interested me, the idea of having both examples. And for the low, low price of $5 there wasn't much that could wrong on the deal.

I tried a fairly thorough search on google and came up blank. I thought it might be a token to get into a King Tut exhibit or an afro-centric peice of art work.
