I like these coins, Danish coins are so beautiful and I remember thinking they sort of curious because some of them have holes in them. I have some 19th century medals from Denmark, but the banknotes from there are a main draw for me.
Great presentation as usual Eugene. I always enjoy seeing different parts of your collection. Thanks for posting them. Bruce
Denmark is currently issuing a series of twelve circulating 20 kr commems with famous or characteristic ships. 11 have already been issued since 2007; the last one comes later this year: http://royalmint.dk/dkm/UK/Themes.nsf/side/Ship_coins_!OpenDocument Christian
Further south, and further west. "Zeelandia" is the (Latinized name of the) Dutch province of Zeeland. The Danish capital Copenhagen for example is on an island that has basically the same name, but that would be Sjælland ... Christian
Wow, I really like the design of your 1903 40th Anniversary 2 Kroner. I don't think I have seen this issue before. Thanks for sharing. My shopping list just grew a little. MikeP
Looks very Danish to me. Interestingly it was minted in Hamburg (well, in Altona which today is part of Hamburg). Michael Flor - see the initials M.F. - was the Danish mintmaster there. Christian
