Oh definatly Mint State Barber Half dollars

There isn't one of the above that you can afford with your parsimonious ways!

Is there really a need to drag his personal life into every thread? He just wants some suggestions on a new album. Maybe worrying about finding a job every waking moment is just too much to handle. If this is his escape, maybe we should respect that.

I'm with you all the way Chief! It's one of the most beautiful designs on U.S. coinage and still quite affordable! DSCF9209rs.jpg

I'm thinking mercury dimes too. I'm kind of stuck between those and Barber Quarters.

My 1st thought was mecury or barber dimes since they are similar to the rosies your working on but in the end i voted for the franklin halves as it give you a nice change of pace from working with just dimes. I would find myself getting bored if all the coins I was working with were exactly the same size. Add to that the fact that most of the franklins are not overly expensive and less likely to take funds away from other projects.

I ore liberty nickels, not to bring it up, but, since you have no job, they can be had at 1.00 each for most circulated examples, and, the only high priced ones are errors and that 1913 one, but it is not needed to have a "complete collection" in my opinion

I like larger silver coins like half dollars, but cost is a big factor too. My favorite half dollar is the CBH, but that's way out of my league to ever do an album.

    Don't forget about the 1885, 1886 and 1912-S along with a few other semi-keys.

What is going on with this coin? That's not a real merc, right?

I voted Liberty nickels as well. Excusing the keys, the whole series can be had in circulated grade at a reasonable price. I've always had a fondness for albums - they look quite nice on a bookshelf! A pity that they aren't conducive to my type of collecting.

Try a foriegn coin album, like British large cents, very inexpensive, I collect them

I voted Mercs, but Jeffersons are an easy one without breaking the bank.

Pattern Coin I think, only a few exist. I think it was a proof version, not sure. Very interesting story about it though.

    Here's the reverse.

Oh, I thought you had an undiscovered J-1981. I was about to congratulate you on winning the 100K lottery. Would you happen to know the pedigree?

Sorry for hijacking your thread Detecto, I got excited when I saw that.
