I have a coin. Not sure if it is anything at all.
    can anyone identify it?

Sorry I don't have any better pics.
it says "japan" and "sonjour on it.

concave with a fairly round hole in it.

    Anyone?

    1st...welcome to CT!

2nd...that coin was not made like that, looks like a bullet went through it.

3rd....sonjour is not a word I can find, but sonjourn is temporary resting place, like a hotel.

Any chance of getting in focus pics?

I think I can see the character "四" ("4") to the left of top dead center, but I also think I am seeing some characters with circles in them to the right of that. Japanese characters, whether Kanji, Hiragana or Katakana, do not include circular elements, but some Korean characters do.

They did, so at face value the coin isn't worth much, but I bet we could make up a great story about it! If the coin is pre-1946 maybe it was in the pocket of a Japanese soldier at the battle of Iwo Jima and the........nah
