Can't remember if I shared these before, oh well it's been a while.

Anyway tonight as I was putting some of these in new holders and baggies, I photographed them to share.

Some of my best metal detecting finds came from one yard in a old house to the north of me built sometime in the 1880s. I walked home with a pocket full of change from the 1880s. Amongst it was a barber dime I got $25 for.

This is the oldest coin I pulled out of the yard, it's from 1767.

Here are a couple more coins I found in the yard from 1819.

This area was settled some time in the 1860s so I doubt that these coins were dropped in their date ranges. The original person who owned the house was a Swede, and they were probably his Grandpa's or something.

Also in my town I found this, and it's really cool. A Illinois watch company medallion.

Cool finds. Better than anything I have ever found.

I envy the people who can pull gold rings with their machines. I've been hunting for 4 years and have found nothing made of gold.

I made other really cool finds, but sold a lot of them to pay bills. I kept some of the coolest ones though.

    Cool finds!

The trick with finding gold is to dig everything. Gold, being an alloy give a "scattered" signal response which sounds like junk. If you have a digital readout on your detector, gold will fall anywhere along the scale depending on the karats and the size. I've found thin gold chains that read as foil and the largest ring (my avatar) read as nickel.

There's no real easy way to find gold. As I said, you have to dig everything and listen and watch the responses on your machine.

Here's a few of my gold finds:

    A large 10k ring:

    A 14k watch chain:

A 16" 22k gold chain (tested as 22k - sold it for $1,000 as scrap)-

    An 18k ring:

Good place to find gold jewelry, from what I've been told, are beaches in the sand.
