I know you can sign up for the ANA, but does that give you a number?

When you join they will assign you a member number.

Besides the ANA what other "big clubs" are there?

    Depends on your interest.

    Varieties and Errors - CONECA
    Tokens and Medals - TAMS

And the biggest of all.. Buford Pusser carried a big club in Walking Tall....

I just signed up, my local, very friendly coin dealer who I buy 98% of my items from, paid the 6.00 price, got a nice discount!

Oh man. You got ripped off! :D

Is that the only reason you signed up? What time did you sign up? 8 p.m. on a Saturday? Did you read the e-mail you got back (if you even got one back yet?) Chances are nobody is there at this time to assign you a member number. They will mail you everything you need once normal business hours return.

No :) I signed up because I always wanted to join some sort of numismatic association.

I got an email with a username and password.

I thought the member numbers were automatically assigned?

    Detecto,

Good grief! Be patient. And be reasonable. It is Saturday night here in Colorado Springs. ANA is closed. Nobody is there to process your application. When ANA opens Monday morning someone will process your membership application and notify you of your acceptance and give you your membership number.

Oh ok. I just thought the numbers were assigned randomly by a computer.

Your username and password should be identical. That is your member number when you sign up.

I don't think my username is my membership number. As hobo said someone has to assign it.

If your username that was assigned was a 7 digit number, and your password assigned through the ANA matches, that is your number.

Yup. You may wanna go change your username and password asap so nobody logs onto your ANA account.

I think your suppose have a letter in front
of the number R regular, L life member J junior.
And your suppose to have a sponsor. If you don't
someone from ANA will sponsor you but that
    probably won't happen until Monday.

Well Detecto, congrats on becoming a member of the most notable name in numimatics. I'll never forget the day my membership packet came in the mail and the feeling of honor that came with it.
    Welcome aboard! Best regards, Ryan
