I recently found a 2006 $20 missing the color shifting ink in the lower right portion of the bill. The eagle on the shield and the 20 are there if you look closely, but there is no ink. My wife works at a bank and says everything checks out to be legal tender. I was wondering if anyone has information about this kind of error since I can't find a picture of one like it anywhere. I should have a picture sometime in the next few days.

You want to have a good read of the rules. One thread is enough. (http://www.cointalk.com/t215459/)

  4. What makes you think it's a BEP error ?.

  6. Sure looks like it's missing, I would keep it till someone that knows about errors can tell us how something like that could happen or if someone just fdid it for kicks.

In not extremely knowledgeable in this particular area, but that seems likes it would be very hard to fake since the items missing are raised up on the bill. Let some more experienced members chime in and hopefully, you got a really nice piece!

  8. Being that it is raised up off the bill it may be easy to scrape it off the bill with a knife blade and a little solvent ?. If that's the case then it's not a BEP error.

Some of the guys that restore paper documents take all kinds of stuff off them, and there so good at it that the average guy would never know there was anything on the paper.

the eagle and shield on your bill can be seen but are very faint. is the area where missing "20" should be raised? hold on to it and have it looked at by someone with more knowledge on the subject.

Looks like it could be authentic, but the best advice is to let someone with knowledge regarding chemical alterations look at the bill, or send it in for authentication to PMG or PCGS.
