MS68-DLarge Date Zinc and MS68 Small Date Zinc Grading all the '82's was challenging because it was the the first year of the zinc alloy. I have both bronze in MS67 - they look very normal. I have all 4 of the Zinc in MS68 and they are NOT normal. They all look like a teenager with zitz. I am told that both TPG's had to grade the new zinc's several times. If you compare the 1st month's with all graded later you will find an extreme varience in numeric grade. Compare the 2 above.
1982 is definitely a year necessitating cherrypicking because of the differences that can exist among coins of a single grade.
1982 is one of my favorite years with 7 types of business strikes produced. I have a pretty amazing collection of 82 cents, many duplicates, toners, etc....mostly unphotographed unfortunately. Here's some pictures I do have of some various coins.
