I majored in broadcasting at college and worked in the television industry here in Hollywood and let me tell you...
    It stinks!

Biased agendas are rife throughout the industry, especially those concerning Czarist Russia, Mexico, Spain and Germany.
Accuracy is relative to the biased subject matter.

    Here's some examples:

Czarist Russia - Always portrayed as the last absolute monarchy, backward and inept. Soviet takeover, if not justified, was inevitable.
Mexico - A nation of inept mixed race people who's only contribution to the world is music, tequila, and food. No mention of or factual information regarding it's minted coinage being an excepted international currency or how the Mexican civil war was a testing ground for the military tactics used in Europe during WWI.
Spain - A nation of blood lusting, gold obsessed, religious fanatics who murdered en mase at will.
Germany - Repetition of the horrors of WWII in all docs relating to Germany, reinforcement of the idea that German = fascism/anti-semtism.

Not all docs of course tow the party line, but many due reinforce the negative stereotypes of the above mention nations and it's people.

I worked in hollywood for a music company for 7 years *maintaining artist websites & creating CD covers* and like you mentioned, hollywood sucks. Lots of politics and B.S.

Company went under in 2006 so thankfully I dont have to work in that environment anymore.

Well, I have been in their shop. You may have a soft spot for them, but I wouldn't be paying their asking prices for anything numismatic.

Of course, never would I pay their asking price. If I could not get anything for at least 25% off (assuming that was a good price), I would not purchase. Just try not to deal with the "old man" if you can help it. He is amusing, but hard to negotiate with.

The History Channel bears as much relevance to History as MTV/VH1 does to music.

The do still make some wonderful shows, The Hatfields and Mcoy's for example, but I'm sick of that feller with the Einstein hairdo waffling about extra-terrestials being responsible for every event in human history. H2 used to be a little better until they fell into lockstep and produced "Modern Marvels".

They are at their most inept when dealing with Germany 1933-1945. The narrative is always accompanied by sinister cello music and even the most outlandish derogatory claim is presented as historical fact.

I kinda like Pawn Stars though, predictable and badly scripted as it is.

It's funny to watch show like E.R. and Trauma with medical professionals for the same reason. They all point out every thing wrong :)

I can testify first hand that the legal shows compress 1-3 years into a few days.

Schools no longer teach critical thinking. In fact, they do not allow it. How else do you think they can control the populace and keep them in line? The best way to control someone is to keep them ignorant.

In the Hollywood movie Troy staring Brad Pitt they put coins on the eyes of the dead prince. I kept pausing the video disc to see if the coin was recognizable.

When was the Trojan War & exactly when was the first coin minted?

Not until long after Troy ;)

Yep, its accepted the Troy was destroyed around 1190 BC, and the first coins were struck in Lydia around 700 BC.

In the movie "Miller's Crossing" there's a scene in which some coins are placed on a desk. They were real US coins from the 1920's. I've noticed that the Coen brothers pay close attention to detail.

How about the HBO series "Rome"? There's a scene in which Cleopatra is holding up a roman coin with Julius Caesar's image on it and commenting on his strong chin weeks before she meets him for the first time. Has anyone seen that scene? If so, was the coin real? Had Caesar started making coins with his image on them yet?
