I think you're looking at 1928, rather than 1928-A, which had a run of 749,544. Otherwise the serial number wouldn't make sense.

I recently became very interested in Continental Currency (I've only been a coin guy in the past) and picked up my first (hopefully of many more to come) note today:

I don't actively collect paper bills of any kind, but I keep all of the foreign bills that I get because they are so much prettier than our U.S. bills (IMO). My best friend brought me these when came home from deployment.

I was doing a little cleaning and forgot I even had these! Into the safe they go.

Got this for $18, although technically free because i used my eBay bucks to buy it. Anyhow my standard guide to small currency lists it for $40.....:thumb:

I got this from a recent trip to Cambodia, I specifically bought this bundle of one thousand 2000 riel notes for 500USD because I knew I was going to get this note:

    1928A $1 Silver Certificate in AU+.

The only defects are a small wrinkle on the left of the obverse, and a few smalls stains that a dry cleaning pad might be able to remove.

I already have a 1928A SC, but this was just $16.00 with shipping. Too good of a deal to pass up.

Well I *finally* got some more pickups in. Here's a 1928B Chicago star... not uncommon but it IS an uncommon circulation note, most of the pop seems to be light to uncirculated. I like it...

Another pickup from my big haul yesterday, you know how I love lime green notes... I am collecting all 12 districts in 1934 lime green, and I've had a New York for a while but alas, it was a blue green seal, and strangely enough it's taken a very long time to find a nice affordable lime green. Well, I ended up buying a big lot of money just to get a good example of this note... and here it is.

Was the Hawaii note a star note and / or in gem condition? That might offer some explanation.

Not a star note. But, looked in great condition.

Seems a little high to me. The Guidebook of U.S. Paper Money lists the note, in Unc-63 condition, as $195. However, I have found that the book tends to over-price things. Depends on HOW nice the note is I guess.
