Hi every one! I am thing about buying a 54 proof set in it's supposed "original packaging" I have apic of it and would love some in fo on it from you guys.
The coins weren't packaged loose like the picture shows. Each coin was in a cello type film attached to a hard card stock material with green tissue paper packing to soften the rough transit through the postal system. Hopefully, yours still has the right ingredients......
The coins were originally packaged individually in cellophane (or something similar) squares that were then all stapled together to form a single bundle. Over time, the cellophane packaging often cracked or otherwise split to allow air transfer to occur faster on some denominations vs. others. Therefore, it is not unusual to find coins toned the way that some of these have toned. The box appears to be correct, but the cellophane is missing. No doubt the coins will not be sent to you loose, but will be otherwise protected.
Honestly, I wouldn't buy that. There are too many other sets out there that are still in complete original packaging - that one is not.
