I have decided to have my 2001 P & D Buffalo Set graded at NGC. My first question as Im new at looking to see if I think coin might be good enough. Do I take the coins out of the plastic airtights that came from the mint to look at it? And can I use a regular magnifiying (sp) to look at it for imperfections. This would be the first coin I have sent in as all my other I have purchased all ready graded. And I guess Im looking for any problems, like scracthes, nicks, things like that. I know alot of you guys dont care for graded coins, I do, so thats why I want to try it.Also to open the airtight it appears it is in 2 pieces so should not be a problem getting them out. Thanks, Jim

Jim a better idea is to forget sending it in. All almost of them grade MS69 so why spend $80-$100 to have them tell you what you already know ?

I won't buy older coins that aren't graded but modern bullion I like in the mint box/case if it comes that way. as posted 90% are ms69 anyway. maybe get a couple opinions to see if your coins might grade 70. otherwise leave them as is.
