Do ya keep 2009's or 1960's, used to, than I had over 20.00 in each so I dumped them

I keep all the 2009's I come across which surprisingly isn't that many and I've been pulling all the copper as well. I have $51 in copper with plenty of 1960's mixed in. Honestly though, I've never looked at any of the 60's...I probably should at some point. Right now I only search for wheats, 84's, 95's, and 98's. I pull any 09's, foreign, and any "S" mints I come across as well. I started this whole thing because my dad mailed me part of the coin collection I had as a kid and it had a few wheats in there and I wanted more. Amazing how it spiraled into something so crazy so fast lol.

 

Why the 84, and I used to keep s mints too, just like you, but realized I needed money

 

Searched through 93,000 penny's, still not one older than 1910!

 

I'm lookin for the 84 double ear. It also happens to be the year I was born so that would make it doubly cool if I ever found one. As for S mints I've only found about 15, not including the ones in my folders. I find more wheats than S mints. I've got 6 1910's. I found them in 2 rolls full of wheats that I got from a bank near where I work. The teller told me that all the change they get comes from a church who deposits all of their offering money to them. That was a pretty good find Haven't been that lucky since. It seems to be mostly 40's and 50's. I'm starting to get really annoyed with all the 40's and 50's...of course that doesn't keep me from adding them to my hoard

 

Wow, only get like 7 wheats per box, found like 600 s mints

I went through a $25 fed-rolled brick and found 19 wheats, including a junk 1926-P and F/XV 1927-P. Total copper was ~550 pennies. In my area at least, there seems to be a much better return on nickels, but cents have a way of occupying vast amounts of time for investors who have very little capital (...like me).

I've gone through $40 in nickels over the last week and have almost been able to complete the folders from 1961-2012 with the exception of a 2009-D and one other I can't think of off the top of my head. It was a fun little look but there's something about pennies that draws me to them. The amount you get for your money doesn't hurt either

Not too shabby for my area.

Picked up $20 in cents and $10 in nickels to keep me busy for the weekend.

The 1920 is in my opinion about MS 63 red/brown I saw the back and thought it was probably a 50's era. When I flipped it and saw the date made my day. Good luck hunting! Hoping to get some pictures to add.

$20 BWR - 5 wheat (40's-50's), 538 keepers total. I keep all 2009, Canadian and foreign. One from...uh...Panama or Bermuda? Earliest Canadian was '65. 3 or 4 '68-S through '74-S, none of which were in particularly great shape. Also a couple of '82 small dates, no small '82-D. I've got $50 more of CWR that I'm going to get working on. Expect results tomorrow!

 

Picked up $5 in pennies and $10 in nickels today. Only 2 Canadian pennies, one 54' nickel and 88 copper. Pretty much a skunk from what I'm used to. Maybe my box from the bank on Thursday will be better...

 

About a year ago, I found a 1972 DDO in change, which I believe to be a #7. Amazing find, still one of my best moments of coin sifting. Good for you, difficult coin to find.

 

I picked up my first box of $25 from the bank this afternoon. So far I'm 8 rolls in and have picked out two wheats 46d, and 53 and two canadian. In other news, When I was searching through my coppers and looking at 60's and 72's I think I passed up a 72 DDO-3. I looked at it and there was some doubling on the "L" in liberty for sure but I didn't notice too much else...so I rolled it back up. Now I'm wondering if I should again dig through all my copper to try and find it again.

I found a 1913 wheat cent today. It's not in great shape (not horrible either, though), but it raises a question in me that maybe someone here can answer. What time of year are coins usually minted? I'm always strangely more excited when I find something that's 100 years old or older. Is it possible that the coin could have been minted on or before mid-October 1912?

 

So I finished my first $25 box from the bank last night. It didn't turn out to bad:

and 629 copper

and the nicest 1959 I've ever seen. Looks as though it just came from the mint yesterday.
