Nice surprise... 1864 L Indian head

    I remembered this morning that I had found another Indian head yesterday. Went to check the pouch I use while detecting and there she sat. Here she is before a bath. I could see the 4 in the date and was hoping it was a 1864.

    Here she is after a short bath. Still needs some soaking.

    A closer look at the L in the ribbon. Cool. I have found quite a few 1864s but this is my first with an L.

    Just try and think of the person who lost all these coins you're finding. A half dollar would have gone a long way back in the 30's. Heck, $0.35 for a days work in 1932 was awesome! (so I am told by a friend of mine.)

    I read somewhere that in 1906 the average hourly wage was .22cents per hour. That is part of the fun of finding these old coins in the dirt. Wondering what the circumstances were of how they were lost and by whom.
