I LOVE THSI THREAD! Can't wait to contribute. So I have a quick question. What's the value of an average WAM from 1997-2000?
I haven't searched through rolls of pennies today (yet), but I did find an interesting one in my change. It's a 1982 penny. I'm pretty sure it's copper but I'm not really good at telling the difference between the small date and large date kind. Would this one be the small date?
Yeah, I thought it was too. There's a noticeable difference between the top and bottom circles of the 8. Thanks for the quick response :thumb:
What was the youngest cent that you found in that box? Just wondering how long they've been rolled up like that. Nice score! I found a 1994 DDR (Doubled column) cent last night. It's in pretty decent shape, wish I could take some better close ups.
Did you get this from a bank? Which bank? I know it wouldn't be the same everywhere in the country, I'm just trying to find a bank down here that has something besides Brinks and their plastic wrapped coins.
picked up $5 FV today, half of the rolls were ALL wheats with a few older canadians here and there.. :hail:
Picked up a box on the way into work. Just from looking at the ends, I can see two wheat. One showing the reverse with a nice wood grain effect and looks to be "F" to "VF", and the other is the obverse of a 1919-S! but it's in pretty rough shape. I'd say "AG" at best.
You get loomis, I say that wells Fargo plastic wrapped rolls are the best, I see so many people on YouTube trying to shake them out, just cut the middle with a pocket knife.
Found a nice 1863 Indian Cent I bought a lot of 100 indian heads off of ebay, mainly to start my son (age 6) with his first Whitman folder. The first 99 were nothing extraordinary - nothing older than 1889 and all dark, nothing that seemed beyond F condition. Then coin 100 was this nice coin from 1863! We were both excited about it. I put it into a cardboard flip, which is visible in the photos.
Found about 30 wheats in the box I picked up on Monday. The two that stick out are a 1910 (my oldest find to date) and a 1935-S with some nice toning on the reverse.
After $10 of penny rolls here is what I have so far. I still have another $10 to go. 3x Wheats - 1930, 44, and 57 3x Canadian Elizabeth's 1x Centavo de la Republica Dominicana 1975 152x pre 1982's
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and have recently got back into coin collecting after not really doing it for years and years. I've decided to start with Lincoln cents and Indian Heads after finding my first (a 1903) in a roll. Since I started about a month ago I have gone through about 23k pennies... not that I'm counting or anything... Anyways, nobody around me is really into collecting so I figured I would join the forum to discuss my finds with those who may find it interesting . Today I only picked up $5 from the bank on a whim after my last dump of ~$40. I got: 1937 1944 and 1956d. Not great, but not shabby. I also found 16 2009's which is the most I've found in such a small batch. Also, while speaking with the teller he suggested that I just order a box through the bank that they could get from the reserve on a weekly basis. I think that may be something I start up.
