$10 in pennies: about 10 wheats (one from 1910 in G-4/VG-8 condition.)
$10 in nickels: 1943 silver war nickel (probably VF-30/EF-40.)
$10 in quarters: a few 1967s (nothing special about them, but I collect pre-70 coins so whatever) and a bunch of state quarters in good condition.

While I was at the grocery store today I thought I would ask if they had any extra halfs or nickels. She said she had no halfs but did have 5 rolls of nickels I could have so I got them. Two of the rolls were uncerculated 2003-d mint the other three rolls had nothing so I will put them back in circulation but the u n c
rolls will go into my roll set don't no how the two unc rolls got in there.

Ive been working on roll sets lately and have been going through alot of rolls. Yesterday I grabbed $140 in Halves, $100 in dimes, and $60 in nickles, from the bank. I didnt find anythingtoo special this time, only one BU 1967 kennedy. But one of the rolls of nickles was the strangest Ive ever found. it was half wheat pennies. there was a nickle on both ends and the entire roll alternated from nickle then a wheatie then a nickle and then another wheatie and so on the entire roll. But the weirdest part about it, all the wheat pennies have been plated. I dont know what they were plated with, but they are silver in color and I think its zinc. But how stange is that??? That someone would electromagneticly plate every wheatie, and then throw them in a roll of nickles.

My local bank doesn't normally carry half dollar rolls, so when I asked last night, the teller could only find two coins for me, a 1976, and a 1967(40% silver), both about EF.

Maybe the guy didn't plate them but bought them like that in a collection or box lot.
So he figured that's a good way to get rid of them at 5 cents each.

What year were the wheat cents? That might explain the whole thing. 1943 = zinc plated steel.

Here are the results from my recent $100 in quarters search:

    (3) 1976 Bicentennial quarters
    (1) Near MS-63 2006D Nevada quarter.

More specific report on today's findings can be found here.

Ah well, I'm sure I'll see better roll days in the future. :goof:

    silver

I got two rolls of halves today and pulled 1- 64. I did get an 83 that is interesting. It is counter stamped with two dates, but the edge shows no copper. I weighed it and it is only .1 gram more than a clad half I checked ( 11.3 vs 11.2) so I am asumming someone plated the edge. The edge is a shiney silvery color. Anyway it just caght my eye.

People do the strangest things to coins. I searched rolls of Lincoln cents today.
Found a 1983 with a 3 leaf clover stamped in front of Mr. Lincoln's nose.
The back has paper glued to it like it was once on a card or display.
I also have a Kennedy half with a X stamped into Mr. Kennedy's head.

One time I found a Lincoln cent with an angel cut out of the middle of it. What happened to separation of church and state?! :hammer:

    luck

I must have had beginners luck. When I started searching rolls last year I found a lot of silver and sevear wheat cent, but lately I have't found much of anything. I was exited to find the 64 Kennedy yesterday. With any luck mabey thing will turn around, but I guess with so many people searching the supply has to run out sometime.:(

Could you enlighten me as to what a 'fs-039.9' is?

Does anyone keep pre-82 copper cents? They're currently worth over twice face value as bullion, and they're about 30% of pennies. It's like silver all over again!

    Just finished the nickels:

two(!) buffalo nickels: 1920 and 1931-S, both VF

quite a few early XF-AU Jeffersons:

    2-1938
    5-1939
    1940
    1943-P
    1955

And a few 1950's that filled a folder I'm adding to... not a bad haul!
