Solid MS-63. Possibly MS-64. OBV: Hand holding the branch shows contact marks and wear, same on the "red" stripe thats right below that hand. (Weak strike?) NICE SANDALS. REV: The eagle's right tallon doesn't looks quite as sharp as it coud be.
I’m half attempted to give it an AU rating. The OBV appears to have a lot contacts marks. The REV appears to have a sight wear on the wing bend above the head. I agree with GDJMSP and dipping. I’m guessing AU 58 to MS 62. For me, the contacts marks on the OBV are too distracting to go any higher.
The contact marks on the obverse and to a lesser degree on the reverse are quite distracting, but they seem to be confined to the high points. We could be looking at wear, but I don't see much in the way of luster breaks, so I am inclined to think the strike is just a bit soft. I'd give it a MS60.
I must be getting old. I don't pick up the dipping of this coin. Looks like too many spots left that would have been removed by such a cleaning. Somebody let me know what I'm missing. I think the coin looks very nice at around MS63.
64. The luster is great, the strike is good, but there are too many marks on miss liberty's skirt to 65 IMO.
Those dark spots in the protected areas are exactly what indicates it's been dipped. How else would a coin get such dark spots only in the protected areas and be blast white everywhere else unless it had been dipped to remove dark toning on the coin ?
I agree that it has been dipped. The marks on the high points of the skirt take away some of the eye apeal to me. I would give it a solid 62.
Th reverse is great, i have always been a big fan of the walkers reverse, I agree with most of the grading comments. as solid a 62 as i have seen (and a nice coin!)
