Hello Everyone...been a while since I posted here but just wanted to know if any of you are considering the 3 coin gold set for 2600.00? Any thoughts or speculation? From the past, most of the regulars here know that I collect AGE's uncirc and proof from 1986 up to present..it seems to me that this would be a must have for the series.... Have a good one.. RickieB
It is out of my price range, but the reverse proof is only available in this set and it had a very limited mintage. It seems a good bet that this set will be the big winner of the year.
The gold is what I was talking about. the silver is only $100, but the gold one is only available in the $2600 set. The gold is limited to 10k pieces and the silver is limited to 250k iirc.
gold vs: silver there were millions of collector in this planet and maybe only 1% collect gold. yes, people like gold. but silver is the only thing they collect most. for 250,000 silver coins is considered very few. while 10,000 of gold coins will be based on bullion value again in the future. let's take an example: 1995 w american eagle silver dollar. now worth more than $5,500.00. before sold for $23.00 each. and this one is even free, while that of 1995 four gold coins set. it was near bullion value. now it worth around $1,350.00. original cost $999.00.
The '95-W ASE wasn't sold for $23. The only way you could get one was to buy the 5 coin set for $999. And the mintage was only 30,000. That's why it's so much today. Now let's see - the reverse Proof AGE can only be purchased in the 3 coin set and the mintage is only 10,000. So what do you think it might be worth in 10 years ? Do the math.
Hey Guy's..thanks for your input...nice to see everyone is still around..Howdy Doug, Cave and Speedy! I did commit to the 3 coin AU Set..OUCH!! But I think in the years ahead it will benefit my son more than me. HiHo..HiHo it's off to work I go... to earn those bucks, to pay the fed... HiHo HiHo RickieB
I'd like to pick up the reverse proof gold and silver coins without having to buy the sets. Maybe people will have them slabbed separately. If the price isn't ridiculous, it might be worth it.
I gaurantee you that people will have the Reverse Proofs slabbed, but yes, the prices will be ridiculous. I'm with you though. It'd be nice to pick up the Reverse Proof AGE seperately if possible. The Mint stuck it in that 3 coin set just because they knew that lots of people would pay the price for all three coins just to get that one.
:secret: ********NEWS*******:secret: The Mint's website has just published the possible sellout in less than 1 day on the 3 gold coin set. WOW!! They are still taking orders but you are notified that you may or may not receive the coins if someone cancels...keeping my fingers crossed on this one since my order was not placed until 5:56 PM yesterday..
