I for one think that paying over melt for fine coins is A-OK. When I see a coin that I like, I don't mind paying the price of a dinner to add a fine coin to my collection. I just purchased a BU 1944 Walker for $ 18.00 ( 5.00 over melt ) but I am happy and to me that's all that counts. I have in the past spent many dollars for junk coins and to me, that's all they will ever be, but to get a BU coin depending on the type, the sky is the limit for purchase price. Dave
What's your point, or are you ranting just cause? Either way, I totally agree with you. I won't over do it of course, paying say 800 for a 100 coin. But yes if it's a coin that speaks to me I have no probably over paying. Like you said being happy on this hobby goes a long way.
I just purchased a BU 1944 Walker for $ 18.00 ( 5.00 over melt )........ Ha -Ha Chris, I guess the $ 5.00 over melt is the tip. Dave
Sorry, didn't mean to rant. I thought this was a coin chat forum. My point is that if you like the coin, you need to pay the price. Dave
Oh, rant all you want, I was just curious if you had a point. I'm sorry if you read into my response. But yes I agree, if it makes you happy then I'm all for "overpaying". Can we see pics of your walker?
1944 Walker Photo You bet Tdogchristy, although I am about the worst photographer on Coin Talk. Here is what I came up with. Dave
Heck Dave, I do it......we all do it. Sometimes something comes along that strikes your fancy and the price seems not too out of wack. I picked this up a couple o' weeks ago knowing absolutely nothing about it. Did I overpay? Probably, but the piece spoke to me........
Is It just me or do many of the things that strike our fancy, and we buy, are liked by others on the forum?
Okay, my turn. A half in this condition usually sells for $30-32. I scored this one for $43 without even trying to haggle. A couple eyes were on it when I asked for it from the dealer's case, so I didn't want them to want it either. Greedy greedy me. I love it, and it is mine.
