I have 3 of these coins that I am not sure what they are. All of them have a slightly different weight. The very dark one is the most heavy. If anybody knows the correct specs of this particular coin, I would totally appreciate it. Got 2 silver bars. Can anybody read what is on it? Thank you for reading.

If the coins are genuine then they are French 50 Francs made in the 1970s. They should each be 30.0 grams of 0.900 silver for a total silver weight of 0.8682 Troy ounce each.

When I put it on the scale, the dark one weighs 29.8g, the middle one weighs 29.9, the last one is 30.1. My scale was jumping on the tenths, so thats give or take .1. Mine are fakes???

There is a tolerance acceptance for wear, not sure about the 30.1 but the other two are within the tolerance.

Is that the only way to check these coins besides taking it an expert?

You could clip them in half and see if there is silver in the core or not.

Weight is usually the best way. You can also have U.S. coins that are + or - up to .05 grams in weight because of circulation.

I also did the magnet test, and none reacts to it.

Silver bars are cool looking, might post that in the bullion section see if anyone has seen something like that before.

If your scale has only one digit after the dot, it is likely within the tolerance level of your scale.

you can compare the design of your coins with this one: http://www.ma-shops.de/sorensen/item.php5?id=1925
