I've been looking into getting one. They are pricey.

 

Couple of new foreign notes. The first is from the Austro-Hungarian Empire and it has a stamp for "Austria," denoting it was to circulate in the new country of Austria following the dissolution of the Empire after WW I. The second note is a 100 Kr. note from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia shortly after WW II started.

 

Wow! What an accomplishment. You must have been pretty happy!

 

Okay, we go across the ocean for my latest pickup... but the other ocean! Got another Philippines note. Always with heavily decorated borders on the obverse, vivid colors on the reverse. And alot of women on the notes. Like many women, this note looks best when from the reverse...

 

Picked up this sheet of 1976 $2 stars for a fantastic price.



But unfortunately I missed out on an even better deal: a 1928 $1 Legal Tender in Fine/VF for $21.00. Someone snapped it up from eBay while I was looking at the photo. Oh well. You win some, you lose some.

 

Gonna hit you with a quick back to back new pickup - very pleased with this one. A solid mid VF note, and to boot, the rarest signature combo from Philly. That's now 10 down, 2 districts to go...

Time to unload a spectacular lime green example I got yesterday. As you know, I am a sucker for the lime green seals, and while I already have a Minnesota lime $20 in both star and low serial form (00003366, pretty low for a 34 $20 release!!) this was too good a prime example to pass up. Wonderful lime coloring, huge borders including the oversized top and left with cut lines... yes, this note pleases me.

 

Beautiful. That's a gorgeous note! I'm also partial to the lime green seals.

 

Hello everyone i recently acquired a large lot of foreign notes for some work i did for my friend Brian. His father Tom collected foreign notes and currency all his life and left Bryan the collection, he has no interest what so ever in the collection. Brian has been a friend of my family my whole life so three weeks ago he needed some maintenance done on his home ( I own and operate a Vinyl window and siding company). I would have done the work for nothing considering the friendship we have and Brian knows this but was not having it. Being young married and buying his first home does not leave him with much money so after i completed the work he gave me a half full rubber made bin of foreign paper currency. Some of them are already labeled and some are not, I already made one thread asking for info on some notes and you guys were awesome thanks. Instead of making a ton of what is this threads and if you guys dont mind, from time to time i will post one and ask that you give me a little info on what it is? Also if you could recommend a resource for which i can obtain some info or value for the notes would be great.

Looks like Japanese occupational currency from the Dutch West Indies. In a nutshell, Japan (after invading and occupying various locales in the pacific during WW II) issued occupational currency for use in its occupied territories. The most common notes seen today come from the Phillipines and from Burma, but occasionally you get neat notes like yours.

Great story, btw. Its always cool to get a whole collection, if only to see what the former collector thought was important, interesting, etc.

Thank you any idea on the date??? Also this unfortunately is not the complete collection its about half, Brian kept the other half for obvious reasons they were graded and such...

 

NVM i found them on eBay looks like they are going for anywhere from $2 to $7 but thanks again for helping.

 

My best guess is sometime during the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies, early 1942 to mid 1945.

Greece is the word...





Got this last week, been holding it so I don't uncork all my Greek notes at once. Except I have a pile coming in now, so I gotta move inventory - everything must go! This is one of the 1955 releases, my least favorite but it's by no means bad, really vivid color and engraving, great reverse.

 

got this at the bank today not the best condition, but only 187,200 printed

 

Excellent find! These are pretty rare to find still in circulation.
