They are now offering the Franklin commems again http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...ctId=13794&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10141
What does this have to do with the mint being evil? They announced that a Franklin Legacy Set would be coming before individual coins were even for sale.
Danr, This is the legacy set which is actually a part of the Franklin series as originally advertised so technically it isn't a re-issue.The coins in these sets were set aside from the original minting numbers specifically for this purpose.Personally,I'm gonna pass on it but I did just order the SF mint proof and unc dollars.I wasn't even aware they were taking orders,so I have you to thank. Thanks!
And it is Bush's fault! OK, OK, OK...I am only kidding. I couldn't help it when I read the thread title. I will be good!
Nothing has been reissued. Just a change in the law allowing the sale of existing stock rather than melting them down.
Just my luck! The items that they have offered again for sale are ones in my collection that were enjoying a nice secondary market increase. Just when I thought I might have made a good purchase somebody finds a way to screw it up.:headbang:
The term reissued leads one to believe that additional coins are being minted and that is not the case.
The mint is evil. Look at the price for that garbage. Give me coins, not coins with stamps, pamphlets, intaglios, reprints of bills, pouches, cards, bells, whistles, or any of that other crap, just give me coins, and don't rob me blind whilst doing it. This is what I say to the mint.
There is no differance in the Franklins. They were produced at the same time and held for these sets. It was done because the SF mint commem design had not been decided.
I can't understand the packaging price of 42.00! OUCH!!! S.F. Mint Proof = 35 Franklin Proof = 35 2006 Proof Set = 23 TOTAL = 93 They should have included the 2006 Silver Proof set to make it price compatible.
