What do you guys think? I think the Legacy Set will gain value faster than the 3 coin silver set (Mintage of 50k vs 250k) but I like the idea of owning a reverse proof=p.......I don't have enough money to buy either of the other two 20th anniversary sets btw... What should I do=o!!??
I don't know. But I have a question. Where can I find the 3-coin silver anniversary set to purchase it? I've already ordered the 2006 American Legacy Proof Set to go with my one from 2005. But the U.S. mint isn't listing the anniversary silver set for sale, or at least I can't seem to find it! Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?!?
I just picked mine up and it seems that even though the website was a little slow it was nothing like previous time. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I have a collection of ase proofs so I figured this is probably the best way to get what I needed (the reverse proof).
20 ann set i just cancled the legacy set. i also ordered the 3 coin silver set. if you look at buffalo set issued a few years ago...it still has a high price and in the long run will. the one reverse coin is going to grow much faster just as the 1995 w silver eagle. this is the only place to get that sdet and coin. order 2 if youj can. fbs
i still dont see the negative fedback the gold set is getting except for the $2610.00 price. when there are only 10,000 reverse proof W mint mark gold eagle coins and 30,000 W mint mark uncirculated gold eagle coins, that is considerably less than the 80,000 95 W silver eagle coins that are over $5,000 each now (the only one i need to complete my silver eagle set). guess i will have to wait untill i win the lottery to complete that set,
The only thing I see for an increase in the Legacy set is that there are only 50,000 PACKAGING UNITS, NOT coins. There are in reality 250,000 Legacy sets possible without the Legacy packaging. Not to mention that you will pay $43.00 over the original mint pricing for the coins in the packet.
Just completed my order for one of those silver sets and hope my credit card can take the hit! When I get it from the mint and my folks find out what I've ordered will be the time I find out if I'm going to be a coin collector or a person who just reads about them. So untill a week or so after the 6th of Oct. we will find out.
I hope that they last. I just dropped a grand on a pool filter so I have to wait a while to spend more $.
OK if you had $2600 (or that much room on a cc), would you get the Legacy set, a 1909 S VDB - say PCGS MS63 RD or 64 RB, or an AU 1926S IH Nickle, or a 1921D Walker in XF? The Legacy comes last for me, but it may well outpace the others in the resale market.
