The TRUTH is NOT MS 69.....wow, Just only to attract attention just remember it is their own OPINION...My own opinion I will BUY the coin without Plastic...To make it sure I can touch the real coin. That's all...because this coin is NOT UNIQUE! see the difference your New Penny 2012 would not even grade that high..againts 1793.. the diffenrence is 219 years GAP... LOL WHEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, I can not beleive it... OMG too!
While I can agree that it would not grade MS-69 if it were a modern coin, this coin absolutely stands alone as the single finest early US coin. I had the privilege of examining the Cardinal collection, of which this piece was a part of, about fifteen years ago when I worked for a large New Orleans coin firm. This piece is truly magnificent and deserves the grade although most would agree that MS-67 would be the true technical grade.
The image I posted came out years ago. I may be wrong but I'm thinking they were all part of the Cardinal collection.
When I say the Cardinal collection, they were all in later generation slabs pedigreed to the Cardinal Collection. None of them were in the old green holders, but the coins look to be the same.
If that's just the first coin they are revealing, imagine what those other three at the bottom will be...... Absolutely beautiful coin.
I think it will list at less than 1.5 million, but the final value really depends on how it's sold. Flat price or auction style etc.
I believe most of those were originally in Sheldon's collection, which then went to Naftzger, then to Steiner. I believe in the group picture posted earlier this was when they were in Naftzgers hands.
