Don't know if everyone knows this or not but HSN has a coin show going on right now some pretty cool stuff.
HSN displays the coins very nicely, and are fairly accurate in their descriptions with a fair amount of hype mixed in. But you have to take their price and divide by 2 to get the approximate fair value for which the coins can be purchased elsewhere. The only redeeming value they have is that they make it easy to acquire complete sets. If this is worth overpaying by 100% to you, then you might consider using them.
Diddo this with the caveat; Listen carefully to their descriptions. They tend to almost whisper words like plated, imitation, and looks genuine.
Did you see the set of Franklin half’s in the Dansco album? They never once mentioned the condition of the coins but kept repeating the word shiny to give the false impression of a BU set. You can see in the close up shots many coins looked XF/AU. That Alan guy has been on TV hawking coins for over 5 yrs and still comes across as knowing little to nothing about coins and collecting. Mike Mesak always uses the phrase "please understand "when making his sales pitch. As in "please understand the government doesn’t make this coin any longer" or "please understand these coins are solid silver” as if were all clueless. Allright Mike I understand already,
My personal favs to watch are the Buffalo Gold "First Strikes." I have seen these go for triple what you'd pay on ebay or at your local dealer for that matter.
I've also seen these go for $699.00 on ebay and I can't figure out why because they sell for $800.00 from the mint. Are these "First Strikes" different from the proof coins that sell for the higher amount?
They're not proofs, but uncs that are only released to dealers, not to the public from the mint, most likely. Bummer if someone is paying $800+ and only getting $699 I guess.
I've commented on these shows before. I watch them purely for entertainment purposes. I truly feel sorry for anyone who buys coins from those people. I'm sure alot of people do buy them because they don't know any better. And those people are getting #%*$*#!

HSN is a bad bad thing. I cant even watch long enough to laugh at them. There is another COin guy on satellite TV that has some neat stuff. My favorite tho is American Auction network. I dont know how legit they are but I have seen their tv auctions line up with liveebayauctions. A lto fo the prices ther edont seem too stupid either
I find myself watching those horrible coin selling shows every now and then. I just can’t help it. hehe. I wonder how an actual cable coin show with guests and new would do?

after ebaying what they were selling i quickly relized that they have horrible prices but newer collectors can learn a little bit of info by watching.
