I never heard of Okonite before but the token looks familiar

Egyptian Magic Coin token advertising Central Electric Okonite:

Okonite was one of the first US makers of insulated electrical wire and cable.
Early customers included Thomas Edison and Samuel Morse.

The Central Electric Company of Chicago sold electrical supplies.

Somehow this token made it's way to Canada and then to me.

Good morning, I hope all is well. I stumbled across your post from 2012 regarding the Egyptian Challenge coin with advertising from Central Electric Supply and Okonite. I am a 15 year employee of Okonite who collects vintage advertising items from the company which has been around since 1878. Thank you- Matt

OkoniteMatt contacted me and I replied that the item is not for sale.

    It is way cool.

I'm a collector of such things as well and have an interest in ancient Egypt and the various tokens of this sort.

I imagine the piece is quite scarce. Being near Chicago I should have a better than average chance of finding it.

Thanks for the info OkoniteMatt and the thread.

It’s funny that it is so hard to figure who made it and when! I’m sure this was just a salesman give away to a customer because of the relationship between Central Electric and Okonite. Okonite is the manufacturer and Central Electric was the stocking distributor. You would think the manufacturer would put their name on it for marketing purposes. Even way back when.
