Can some tell me what the price could be on this. I was given this by my wife's dad and i just noticed it was a die break vam-1j. look above the A in states.
There isn't a big jump in the VAM-1J until it hits MS64. Based on its condition, melt value is greater than the numismatic value of the VAM. Chris
I far as i know for sure its a vam-1j but there are a number of die crack lines which you can't see cause my printer only prints 1200 dsi and it should be at least 1600 dsi for a good scan. In hand thing coin is very interesting and It was passed down threw my wife's family which they always thought it was a fake coin but none of them are collectors like my wife's grandma was. I bet they found her hoard when they cleaned her house and just deposited it to the bank. Lets just say they found close to 500k maybe more i don't know exact amount but they spent over a month finding money in books, shirts, drawers and who know's where else. This coin and and a few more sets which i wont mention where found and i hate to say it but my father in law had everyone of the silver dollars melted but saved me this one. I thought it was funny when he said its just a fake coin. I tried to explain everything to him and he said its fake good luck. It was crazy how he didn't even give me the time to explain. I tried to buy it off of him but he said its worth a dollar nothing more. He is also the one that cleaned my wife's penny books and luckily we are keeping them anyways but my wife and I almost cried cause he cleaned them. I have done every test i could do to make sure the coin is real and it is real. I don't know if its crazy but i still wish I could of been in new york when they cleaned out that house with a huge hoard but none of them saw those coins and cash as collectors items. I have one of over 500 they found in the house. My wife isn't a coin collector at all but her grandma used to send her a new collection every year and they where always in the highest grade. She spent most of them but still has some.
