Hey guys, So I have an Eisenhower dansco that I won't be using, they just aren't my thing. Are there any yn (young numismatics) or on (old numismatics) or are interested in the ikes or would put this to good use? Tell me your story/interest in ikes and I'll find a suitable owner for this album.
I would put this to good use, im 12 and I love Ike's because I love the size of the big dollars, but I can't afford a silver big dollar, I buy Ike's, and love them
I love Ikes. I remember getting them as a youngster from doing odd jobs around the neighborhood. Of course back then they were just money (money that no one wanted to use). I loved the size of them, and while some were spent,I actually still have some that i recieved from family members on birthdays and holidays from back then including all of the "Blue Ikes",and the "Brown Ikes" that I used to get from my Grandma for Christmas. My kids can"t believe that I've held on to all of these for over 30 years! I have also recently decided to sell off some of the other stuff in my collection to finance the start of a full set of Ikes in MS condition. It will be my first real step (other than joining this forum) to becoming a "coin collector" instead of just a "coin hoarder):smile. I would definately put the album to good use!
When I was a kid I loved them, when I got older and realized they have no silver I somewhat lost interest. Everyday people see one and always say "hey a silver dollar". In my head im thinking I wish. There still kool though to collect but I never spend more then 1.50 to get 1, usually just trade a paper buck for 1 straight up.
I do. I have two complete sets, proof and business strikes. Ikes were the coins that hooked me on coin collecting.
I started saving them when I was a kid. Whenever I got them from relatives etc I kept them. I still keep all that I can find from banks etc. I have no idea how many I have but the saying goes if you can count them you probably don't have enough. Sometimes lately I can find them in the hundreds at banks, occasionally a 1973, even proofs.
Thanks tdog! I can't wait to get the album. And I assure you that um gonna get a lot of enjoyment out of it. My Grandmothers 90th birthday is coming up and I cant wait to show her the coins she gave me so many years ago displayed in this album. I also plan on paying forward your generosity. After I recieve the album, I'm gonna give away some of my leftover Ikes to someone here on the forum. Thanks again!....Dennis
