There have been a few threads at CT dscribing the smallest coins & also the Panama Pill. I thnk the Panama pill coin is the smallest coin in my collection.

Very cool little coin. How much gold could have been above ground back then?? The entire known supply of gold world-wide back then couldn't have been more than a few days production in the 21st century.

Guatemala sure loved their tiny coins back in the 19th century, or perhaps they really preferred precious metal coins instead of copper or copper nickel substitutes.

That 1/10 fanam piece is only about 2 mm across or about half the size of that 1/96th stater.

It's not foreign, but it is small, silver and proof. I'm not sure, but it is probably an advertising piece based on the Spanish Trail Commemorative.

Amazing that it circulated for quite some time without getting lost.
