Looks like machine doubling, but I could be wrong

There's no known dd variety for that year

    I wouldn't retire just yet.

Looks like MD, or mechanical doubling, which is flat and step-like.

No, we don't need photos of the entire coin. It's one thing if we were trying to determine if the coin is fake or not, but all we're trying to do is determine if it is a doubled die on the obverse.

Some of it looks like machine doubling, but Liberty looks pretty interesting. Can you give us a close-up of the entire word?

    Thanks!

what is your thoughts on the 's' of cents? Clear solid ridge on each side-not flat or stepped...I am wanting to send it in to NGC and see what happens....???

No, the "S" definitely looks flat & shelf-like, but I'm still not sure on the "er" of Liberty. Your photo is just too grainy for my poor eyes.

I'm not sure if NGC will attribute it without prior authentication. If not, you'd be wasting your money sending it to them.

If you really want to know for sure, why not spend a few bucks and send to John Wexler (although I think someone else attributes 5C varieties)? If it turns out to be a genuine variety, at least you could offer on the "selling site" in good conscience.

May I ask where you got this information from?

I'm of the opinion that the coin is MD all the way.

Why answer a question with a question? I am not the one who made the initial statement, and only asked where the information came from. Is there a reason you do not want to answer?
