Got this from a teller today. Tossed it in a holder I had laying around.

Old, not bad shape, relatively low serial, star. Spend it if it is your last 50 and you can't get any other bills.

Nice find. Looks like a new "lowest" known serial number (previous C00053603*).
Book value is $200 in CH-CU.......it's hard to tell by the photos the condition of yours.

I'd say that makes it a keeper!!

Wow thanks. Mine isn't uncirculated, it has a few light folds. No creases though. How big is the print run, wouldn't they start at C00000001 and work their way up?

Definitely a keeper. Print run for the Philadelphia star was only 128,000 for this series.

Keep in mind that a "lowest known" simply means there are no known star notes left that have a lower serial number. They may have been printed, circulated and destroyed. But the "lowest known" would be the lowest serial number known to still exist today.

This print run could have started at 00000001, but that's not always the case.

That's a cool note, definitely a keeper and a nice find.....

....and icing on the cake, its the old-style federal reserve note before they got all colorful and what-not. I know some people might not keep notes just for that reason, but when I was a kid that was what the money you got paid for raking leaves, shoveling snow, etc. looked like. Besides, Grants portraits looks better on the old notes IMO.
