Does anyone know how many of these 'might' possibly be in existence? Or at least know if there are more Cheerios or more Wounded Eagles? Just curious.
They issued 5000 sacs in the Cheerios boxes. Most of them were the "accented" reverse... But not all... I have no idea about the wounded eagles. I was lucky enough to buy a Cheerios dollar in its original packing several years ago.
Daaaaamn! Nice find LostDutchman. I would love to find one of those! I coin roll hunt for them and the Woundeds every couple weeks.
Believe it or not, I came across the Cheerios coin set (Lincoln cent and Sacagawea dollar) back when they were doing the promotion. I held onto it for a few years and moved several times after. It got shuffled away somewhere and I havent been able to pinpoint its location yet. Like many of the sets, it was probably spent by a family member or something along those lines. The damnest thing to not know what you have until it is gone!
I would expect that there are hundreds of thousands of the Wounded Eagle SAC's floating around since the only thing unique about the coin is that little tiny spear through the eagle's breast. Certainly not enough of a flaw to cause the die to be pulled and destroyed. As such, there are probably hundreds of thousands of them lurking in private rolls tucked away for that rainy day or perhaps still in the Federal Bank Store houses just waiting for the day that the rag buck goes bye bye! IMO, the Wounded Eagle" is just a hyped up coin that is difficult to locate because dollar coins simply do not circulate. I mean, its not a doubled die. Its nothing more than a "Speared Bison" nickel in Sacagawea clothing. A die gouge.
