bryantallard show me the money....so i can look through it

First is this a clipped planchet? Then, is it the coin? Or is the d in the bottom left corner weak? Something up with the exyta thickness and the 7? Advice appreciated.

it looks like someone has been testing this coin with a knife. it is supposed to have a copper core and I don't see any copper in the clip looking area. do you see any copper ?

since I could not see any copper I was thinking maybe wrong metal planchet. sometimes people will cut a chunk out of a coin to see what metal is in the coin. folks sometimes tinker around with their coins just to be doing something.

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

Because of the way the edge is beveled, I'm thinking that the clip was made sometime after leaving the mint.

I think it is PMD. If it were a clip, it would have the same arc as that of the coin, and it doesn't look to be that way.
