Iam getting a dansco album off line and i was wondering if i should get a scale to help with my determining of the 1982's. It is a 5 dollar scale and i think it might be good enough to measure the diffrences. Please can someone tell me if this is a good idea or not. And if not what else is needed to help complete my lincoln collection?

I think it would be a good idea. Can't go wrong with $5. I have heard of people making their own testers with pencils and popsicle sticks. They make like a little balance out of it and the copper one is heavier and well...you get the idea. So for $5 it would save you having to make something and would be more than accurate enough to find out which '82's are copper and which are zinc.

5 dollars? I don't mean to be a pessimist, but I haven't seen a scale that cheap that I would trust. Just IMO.

A scale won't so you any good at all if it isn't accurate. And when you are trying to measure something to within 1/100 of a gram - it needs to be accurate. Coin scales really are not that expensive, you would be better off to save your $5 and put it towards an accurate one. You can find many of them - HERE
