Hi All, My first post here. I recently ordered some coins from the Canadian Mint. The service has been horrible. I am wondering if my experience is different or the norm? I placed my order on Aug 16. It took 4 weeks for the mint to ship the order. All coins were in stock. 4 weeks just to get the order out the door. That just blows my mind. I thought the US Mint's service was poor when it took them 4 days to pack and ship a single coin order. When I get the shipping confirmation email, they don't include a tracking number. Anyway...just wondering if this is typical. They have some other stuff I am interested in...but am really hesitant to order as I would like to receive it before the rapture.
I live in the same city as the Canadian Mint in Ottawa, where NCLT stuff is made - and the service is just as horrible... I (among many others) feel your pain...
Ok...well that is dissapointing. I was hoping I just had some bad luck. Thanks for the reply (and so quickly too!).
I like some of the Canadian mint coins also. I have only placed 1 order from them, but everything went fine. There was no tracking number provided though. I have ordered quite a few items from the U. S. Mint and have never really had an issue with them. From a service standpoint, I have found the best mint, in general, to be the Perth Mint. The best overall service I typically encounter is from online dealers and ebay sellers.
Received my coins today. Almost 4 weeks to the day from my order. There are very nice. I just can't believe it took them 4 weeks to put three small boxes into one slightly larger box, slap a shipping label on it and send it to Fedex. I had to call to get a shipping number. "We are having problems with the website"...was the reason. Similar to the "We're really busy"...excuse for the delay in processin my order. Both are BS excuses...fire someone if the website is not functioning properly and hire more people in order to provide better service. On the positive note my CC was not charged until they shipped the order...and the price of silver/gold is higher now.
Interesting to read this thread. Here at the Royal Mint we are quite aware that, on occasion, we disappoint customers by shipping late and so on. However, we do try our best and we are always looking to improve. Apart from shipping on time and in full, what would you say are the hallmarks of good service you would expect from a World Mint?
I've always been under the impression that shipping from any kind of company takes 4-6 weeks. At least, that has been my experience over the last 50 years. The only exception is when I order technical equipment from China. For some reason, it only takes a 7 to 10 days or in a couple of cases, 5 days.... from China!
