Well gang, the days of cigar-box's are behind me. My younger brother has convinced me to upgrade my collections' security and storage. Purchased a 'Brinks Safe' last evening at the local Ace Hardware. I really like it over my prior setup and it was amazingly inexpensive at just over $100. Here it is with some of my treasure inside ;)

    Again, thanks for looking :)

It's a nice safe. Looks like you're going to need another one soon. :)

Nice looking safe. Does it have a fire rating? How heavy is it? I have been wanting to get one, that is my primary reason for asking. Just a little over $100 sounds like a really good deal. Will have to find me an Ace Hardware close by.

It weighed 60lbs empty and is rated 'Better' on the scale of Average, Good, Better, Best. It will protect flammable material (papers) up to a temperature of 1700 degrees the box said. I can bolt it to the floor as it's already tapped in four spots on the bottom, looks to be 3/8 of an inch for each bolt needed.

Sounds like you got a good deal bone.I paid over $200 several years ago for a sentry brand safe which
now a has become quite full.
My solution so far has been to move lesser value items to a padlocked strongbox hidden in the basement.
I now realize i should have gone for a larger model safe.
By the way are you going to keep your single coins loose in the safe? or did you do that just for the picture?

I agree with Midas, I'd have to have a large gun safe to fit all of the albums, rolls, mint sets, etc., that I'd have to keep locked up. I'm waiting for my home addition to go in and then I'll install a safe big enough. Mua ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Is that Roi-Tan box in as good condition as it appears to be in your picture? [IMG]

It's in pretty good shape. The lid is wooden and still attached. Has only a couple of tiny tears on the corners.

I received a sentry almost two years ago as a gift and it is bordering on stuffed, I am probably moving up to a larger model on another year or so.

No - many folks say I'm a backward kind of guy, plus my safe has a four position combination: 4 right, 3 left, 2 right, 1 left. [IMG]
