is this a good subscription to get and are there digital editons any good and do you get to keep the digital editions and say but them on a phone or your computer are there any better coin maagazines ect i think i may subscribe in a few days want to know my best options
I switched from CoinWorld to Numismatic News last year. I like CoinWorld more but not enough to pay double over NN. I never used their electronic versions .
Coin World & Numismatic News are the only two that I subscribe to. You can also get the Coin World Special Editions added to your subscriptions, but I don't. The Special Editions have sections that cover currency & foreign coins. There are a couple of other magazines out there available for subscription called Coins & Coinage. They have pretty pictures are articles about different coin types, but I stay away from them. Haven't tried the digital versions of magazines. I'm a geezer and I like having an actual magazine in from of me.
In my opinion subscribing to Coin World and Numismatic News both should be mandatory for all coin collectors.
Coin World opened my eyes to the existence of the big companies that are more ethical than various others that operated outside proper business practice. Some good journalism but not as cutting edge as it could be; ultimately a commercial enterprise that is more interested in selling product than educating the public about all the facets of this business and hobby. BTW, when introducing new threads it is common grammatical practice to capitalize subjects not use lower case as when texting.
I heard their new editor, Steven Roach, give a lecture at a coin show a while back. He gave a talk about a high profile court case involving some stolen gold coins. He is a man of very high intellect, and I'm sure he brings it to the magazine.
COINS has to be the best "bang for the buck" publication ever. Especially for U.S Type collectors who want info about every series they're collecting by type without having to buy a reference book for every series. And you can get back issues off ebay or ABE's. COINS makes Type collecting practical. It goes back to early 60's. I'm sure every U.S series has been covered by now. Some of it by researchers such as RW Julian, who, IMO, could match wits with Breen any day of the week.
Krause publications is pretty flexible. You can probably get trials on any of their pubs. I know you you can get trials on Numismstic News. I've used them several times in the recent past.
