Hello everybody just today i have tried to start searching every coin i find for minor differences making it a variety but my brain feels like it is going to explode. Partly because i want to keep searching till i find something but the other part is what to look for. I mean i have a pretty fair knowledge of what kind sof die varieties to look for such as the different kinds of doubling and then telling them apart from the non collectable doubling etc. I have contemplated collecting every year and making a pile for each year then scanning it 3400+ dpi and then just searching for differences that way, then though i think of the reverse i also have to check and ugh. But is that what you gotta do to search for possible unknown or minor varieties? So far I have gone through three rolls of lincoln cents analyzing each one at a time for now what appears to be 1hr 40 mins! I had some suspected but they all fluked so yeah. Egh is there some method im missing here?
I would buy a copy of the Cherrypicker's Guide to help you narrow down your search. You should also check out coppercoins.com. This should help keep you sane. TC
It took me 4-1/2 years to search a $50 Mint bag of 1980 Lincoln's. I'd get headaches all the time and have to stop. That's why I don't care about Lincoln cents! Chris
I see thanks for the site. Btw i have a strike it rich with pocket change 3rd edition. What do you think of that book? I have been using it for a while and have found one Variety out of there maybe a second one but i need to confirm here.

this is now my temporary method set up for dates to find the possible varieties old and minor. after classifying i then scan super high dpi images to search for varieties
Lol Yeah its sort of what i can do for now. Later i will buy envelopes and a envelope filing box and mark all the years and dates there. Then hopefully thatd take up a bi tless space.
