My favorite coin is the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, the beauty of this design cannot be matched. I love this coin because when I was very young, like under 10 years old these would come into my spending money. I was born in the early 1950's. It didn't happen often but I was always amazed when it did. Just seeing these coins now takes me back to the happy years of my childhood. What about you, what is your favorite coin?
My favorite series of US coinage are the Reeded Edge half dollars while the coins that I think are most lovely are probably the Draped Bust dollars.
Italy 500 Lire is afordable & beautiful Nice Walking Liberty coin Fretboard. I like the Walking Liberty half & I actually have two sets (one Dansco & one Whitman album). However, the coins in my sets are not all as beautiful as the one you have depicted. Here is an Italian 500 Lire coin minted from 1958 to the 1970s. The price of this Italian coin is roughly equivalent to the Franklin half dollar series. I started collecting them by date & all are BU. BTW, the date is on the edge.
My favorite is The German Empire 1 mark series. My family is from Germany and I still have relatives there. I was in awe of the intricate design when I was first given some 1 marks from my dad. My favorite U.S. series is the Jefferson nickel (mostly because they are very affordable), although lately Mercury Dimes are gaining some serious interest from me.
Not a series collector but if I were it would probably be Walking Libertys also. Maybe the Indian Quarter Eagles and all the Oregon Trail Halfs...:thumb: I also like those Italian coins, picked this one up for less than $15. .
In my opinion, the coin design doesn't have to be the nicest to be your favorite. While I think the nicest design I have are probably on the Walking Liberty half dollar/Silver American Eagle or Standing Liberty quarters I think the most interesting coins are my large cents, Barber coinage, or seated liberty quarters. Indian heads are both interesting and have a nice design so I guess I would vote for them.
My favorite US coin design is the Mercury Dime which I collected years ago. Now, my chosen series is the Jefferson Nickel. Most people don't associate the Jefferson Nickel with a great design, but that is in part because they have never seen a Jefferson Nickel executed to meet the designs full potential. I would say that this coin probably does it better than any other in my collection despite the fact that it does not have full steps.
Wow, great looking coins! I'm glad there's foreign coins up there too as Germany and Italy both have some great looking coins as well as other countries not yet posted. Here's a Italian woody 1920 and a Mexican Last of the Aztec Kings, Cuauhtemoc 1948 Cinco Pesos. I use seller's pics whenever possible as it saves me time and skill I don't have.
Peru SOLES I started this new set of Peruvian Soles about two months ago because they are beautiful in design, affordable and is found in many varieties. Also, do not need to buy them of the internet.
