Yeah, and if you look at the head here it does have the same indention at the forehead...I'll post new pics anyway.
Here are some of my clashed capped die strikes. I have other examples but only room for 5 attachments per post.
Nice coins Zimmy , that 82 coin you have here may be a later example from the same clashed die cap as the op's coin in this thread.
that was part of my original doubt. they are clashed cap STRIKES, not die caps themselves. these are STRUCK by the die cap. nice. i could not figure out how a CAP could have the incuse memorial.
here is mike diamond's article on this type of error. is that your coin in the article, Zimmy?http://www.coinworld.com/articles/capped-die-strikes-feature-mixture-of-incuse-/
Such a good find. Did you find it seaching rolls? and forget eBay IMO, This is one to store in the collection, unless your only in it for the $$
dont think i can agree with that. some people dont collect lincolns. he could sell that and get something he likes to look at if he were so inclined, and that would NOT mean he is all about the money. this is a HOBBY, and most hobbies need to be funded somehow. i dont spend any money on coins that hasnt come from the sales of other coins.
I am not a collector, I am the God-daughter of a career numismatist and when I was a teenager I had quite a collection that was stolen. I hadn't collected any thing since then and for years would save change and then cash it in (oh the regret!) A few months ago my husband wanted me to turn in my change for cash but, I was just sick of never taking the time to look and I didn't want something to pass me by, so I looked and there it was. I do love coins and I love Lincoln errors the most. However, I am a stay at home mom who left a thriving career to be with my kids..and well my husband doesn't have such a great career, so my hobby pays for other really expensive hobbies like photography, my kids, occasionally self indulgent things for me, so I'm not in it for the money but, I am. For me it's the thrill of the hunt.
