recieved my 1903 o barber dime what do you think

    finaly was able to go to my old place and check the mail
    it came in a normal envelope wrapped in paper towel and a to big 2x2

    this is my first barber dime for my collection im pretty much got all the dimes i need besides the one from before the barber.

    curoise to what the scratches are grade on 2x2 was g paid 3.86 plus .75 shipping im happy its my first o as well

    It's damaged pretty badly due to the scratches, but they appear to be quite old and not from the shipping. This is the type of coin that is often known as a "cull" because of the damage. It would be essentially valued as bullion only and the grade does not really apply given the damage.

    thats ok im not in it for the value ill more then likely just find another to go along side it i didnt see the scratches intill it was on the big screen so in hand its ok thank you

    I remember the thread and I did not see the scratches, either. The images they supplied to you were rather fuzzy. This may have been because they legitimately had a hard time with the images, or they may have attempted to hide the damage. My gut feeling is that they did not do this on purpose.

    nah he was a new seller he was asking me questions threw email about best ways to ship what he should charge for shipping in his next auctions ect he is selling more then just coins

    In my experience, Barber dimes tend to have a little extra premium over bullion despite being cull, if the date and mint mark are clear. My local shop has the box of common mercury/Roosevelt's almost at melt, Barber culls are a little more.
