I'm curious on opinions for how I did with this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/230846743039?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 The picture is garbage since it doesn't show anything up close, but the different coins are going to be pretty cool to look at. I'm hoping the colorized stuff gets the 13 year old interested and I'm sure the 6 year old is going to love the stuff. As for value, there is a supposed ".999 silver" limited edition 1932 quarter design round. It doesn't say the weight of it or size though. I bid on the entire lot assuming this will be an ounce of silver and then eventually paid inflated postage on the rest of it. What do you think? Did I overpay (again) ? For those interested, my son has been loving the packages that come in the mail. He is still being very well behaved about leaving the coins in the coin drawer after his initial inspection. Last week when we got the rolls of pennies he was a bit confused though. Typically when we get a roll, it's mixed and intended to be busted open to fill an album. Since these were BU rolls for specific dates we aren't doing that and he had a bit of trouble grasping the concept. In retrospect it didn't make much sense. Our whole point in collecting up until now has been to either fill cheap albums with non gloved hands for fun or to play with single coins that are already protected and comment to each other how shiny they are and which ones we like. Buying BU rolls fits neither of these purposes. Looks like I'm done with roll buying for a bit.
The "32 quarter" looks much smaller that an ounce in the photo. It looks like the size of a quarter. I does say there is a 64 half dollar though. Melt on that is 12 bucks right now.
I'd be very pleased with a quarter of .999 silver and the 12.00 halve for melt values. I honestly think I'd have paid close to 10-15 dollars on the colored quarters set in a show setting and 2-3 dollars for each of the other colorized coins. Thank you very much for checking out the lot. I'm happy with the purchase
The value of this lot lies more in the excitement of your kids and you can't put a price on that..... But let's try anyway! Obviously there is a difference between retail and wholesale, hopefully I can shoot in between: 7 empty velvet coin cases two of them are American Eagle cases ~ $3 a 5 NYC State quarter colorized set commemerating September 11th ~ $7.95 a 4 coin Susan B Anthony set the years are 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1999 ~ $7.95 a 2007 Denver uncirculated US mint set which has a piece of the corner ~ $8 3 pins, 2 of them are commemerating September 11th ~ $1 a 1979 Susan B. colorized dollar with COA ~ $7.95 .......would be worth more if they blacked-out her face entirely. a 2000 Sacagawea colorized dollar with COA ~ $7.95 a 2001 George Bush/Al Gore medallian ~ $0 ........cause I sure don't want it. a 1964 holographic JFK half dollar with COA ~ $12.95 a 1932 quarter that never was, in .999 fine silver and limited edition. ~ $9.95 Totaling $66.70
That was a very nice job of totalling it all up Travlntiques and I sure appreciate it. The Bush/Gore medallion is colorized so hopefully they'll like it. I MIGHT just let the 6 year old carry that one around to show off and see how long it is before he loses it I personally put the empty cases value at 0.00 and I'll likely throw them away, but i could see the bush/gore token being worth 3.00 just for "show off value" by the 6 year old at the playground. I would have thought the quarter would be a bit higher but I guess I need to go read about silver content and weight As a side note, I WAS going to win this lot. I put in a max bid of 45.00, mainly because I really wanted the colorized coins and the "holographic" JFK as a way to introduce and pursuade the 13 year old into joining the club. The Sacagawea is beautiful in my eyes. I'm excited to hear how the kids react to receiving this.
A .900% Silver Quarter melts for $6, so I basically put yours at or around melt, and the Kennedy too just to be conservative. As far as the cases go..... http://www.ebay.com/itm/15-2007-SILVER-EAGLE-BOX-VELVET-CASE-AND-COA-PAPER-NO-COIN-/370646650508?pt=Bullion_US&hash=item564c430e8c Yep, people will buy anything LOL
Think colorized quarters suck, I can get them and gold plated ones for face value, and gold plated JFK clad halves
