i sold two 81 SBA type 2 proof sets and mailed them out priority with signature confirmation on the first. the buyer wasnt home to accept delivery and sign, so now they have been sitting at his post office since the 4th. i have talked to the post office twice, and the package is STILL SITTING THERE waiting for the buyer to pick it up. the buyer knows it is at the post office, but for some reason hasnt gotten it after telling me he was going to get it. now, until he picks them up, my money is sitting at the post office. i am not happy with that thought. would i be wrong to refund his money and have the post office return the sets to me asap if he has not picked them up by tomorrow? like i said, its my money just laying around this post office, not his.
i just got this message from him. "Line was way too long on Saturday. I’ll have to call and see if they will let my wife pick them up. Too much on my calendar the next few days. I’ll keep you posted." i need to just get my things sent back first thing in the morning.
im newer on ebay, so my funds dont get released until he picks this up. what kind of coin collector GOES to the post office knowing he has a package to sign for, but leaves without getting it? im starting to get really nervous.
I would not issue a refund until you have the coins back in your hands. Regarding the post office no-pickup concern, I've seen much stranger things, so give it a few more days to (hopefully) sort itself out.
Riff, people do strange things on ebay. Sorry to hear that your funds are held up. I was not aware that they held your funds like that. Rest assured that as long as your coins are at the post office, you may not have your money, but your coins are in good hands. As a collector, I will sit at the post office for hours until my driver returns with my package. I did it last week. But for some people, they are just coins and no big deal. Personally, getting coins in the mail is like Xmas!
One that's having "buyer's remorse." With the excuses he gives ("the line was too long" and "too much on my calendar"), it's obvious to me he doesn't really want the coins.
It is 30 days and then they return it to the sender and I seriously doubt that the PO will return it to you until then. Even if they did, you will long regret the negative you get if they do send it back. I think you are kind of between a rock and a hard place.
This is actually a scam I've seen before to be honest. I've seen it pop up a few times in the past weeks. I forget exactly how it works, but I'd be cautious if I was you.
Why not just ask him if he would like to return the coins? If he says yes, I would Paypal gift him the return postage, just to avoid the negative. If you're new to Ebay that neg would sure look bad with very little feedback. When you have the coins back, mutually cancel the transaction.
Speaking as someone who buys all the time on eBay, I'm pretty patient about getting my goods, and sometimes it takes me a few days to get to the post office if I need to pick them up. I understand that you're anxious to get your money, but the buyer has no idea that it's being withheld from you, and probably has no great sense of urgency. I wouldn't panic; judging from what you've written, he sounds a lot like me, not like someone who's getting ready to run a scam or jerk you around. JMHO, but I wouldn't worry.
If you don't mind, please try to remember how it works, because I'm not seeing how someone would get to step four: 1. Buy coins on FeeBay 2. Leave them at the Post Office 3. ??? 4. Profit
Being new on ebay is the worst.. because you have to wait for their positive feedback.. it won't take long for you to move up-- I don't have a hold on my money and it took only about a month of sales. I really think this is a perfectly normal transaction..I'd leave too if the post office line was too long- are you using paypal or some other method of payment?
Really I think that you have nothing to worry about. I often leave my coins at the post office for an extended time because I travel extensively for work or just can't get to the post office for several days. Bummer that you have to wait for your money though.
It's definitely frustrating. However, I can see how someone might have a full time job that does not allow them to be at their home to sign for delivery and also might make it tough to get to the post office during normal working hours. If they went on Saturday and there was a significant line then they might have left if they had other things to do, too. It's inconvenient for you, but remember that some folks work in a position that does not allow much flexibility and they may have family obligations that take up much of their "free" time.
Uh, have you guys been to the post office recently? Sometimes the wait can be 20-30 minutes. The line was so long today that a woman came up to me handed me two unstamped envelopes and $5 and asked me if I could buy postage for her mail and keep the change. I was first in line and she was in a hurry to get back to work.
I'd relax if I were you. There's no reason to think it's a scam and refunding his money would probably just make him mad. It can be a real pain for some people to get to the post office and Saturday is very bad since that's when most people who work can go. No reason to panic.
yeah it is! i have been a die hard skins fan since 1973 and have not had a QB i could get behind since mark rypien. maybe this guy doesnt realize that i cant get my funds until he gets them.
