33 Double eagle

    Ya know, $7,500,000.00 was a huge amount of money back in the 1940's--1950's. Our government was so screwed up, as it still is, making allies with
    cheap self proclaimed kings and dictators, it's no wonder that they let this coin out of the U. S. A. We were by far the strongest nation in the world back then. You can't tell me they let Farouk out of country with it without some sort of deal which he probably reniged on. I bet a normal everyday U. S. Citizen couldn't have gotten away with it?

    1 is in new jersey, 1 is in georgia, according to a book i read. great book, awesome details of the history of the farouk coin, and the auction sale that later occurred. it was called "illegal tender: gold, greed, and the mystery of the lost 1933 double eagle"

    there are also 2 in the smithsonian collection. only 1 is on display...
